You’ve probably seen those purple warnings in Xcode pop-up, most likely when performing UI-related work on a background thread. You can now generate those warnings yourself, which is especially useful for SDK developers.

While SwiftUI is the best way to build apps today, a few misconceptions need to be clarified.

There are several ways to get started with iOS development. I personally always recommend Paul Hudson’s 100 days of Swift, but Apple’s pathways are also a great start.

There are many different ways of showcasing your in-app purchases and experiments are the best way to optimize results. I’ve enjoyed Ryan’s learnings, which you can significantly benefit from when developing iOS paywalls.

I was sad not to see many updates to SwiftData this year, but they did not completely ignore it! Adding fetch indexes is now supported, allowing you to improve the performance of database searches.

I purposely waited for this question until the launch of my course From Side Project to Going Indie. So many developers reached out to me asking a similar question since it looked like I was building a lot next to a full-time job. And I did!

There’s no single answer, but it does include work habits, structure, planning, goals, and dedication. Side projects require progress in limited time, so it’s crucial to work on things that matter.

Secondly, knowing how to stay motivated and getting up to speed quickly when you only have 30 minutes to do something helped me progress.
